Bank of Canada target overnight rate
The target for the overnight rate is the Bank's primary monetary-policy lever, set by Governing Council at eight scheduled fixed-action dates per year. Source: Bank of Canada Valet API series V39079.
CPI inflation — headline plus Bank of Canada core measures
Headline CPI (all-items) is the topline year-over-year change. CPI-trim removes the most volatile components on each side of the distribution; CPI-median takes the price change at the 50th percentile of the basket. Both are the Bank of Canada's preferred core measures. The 2 percent reference line marks the centre of the Bank's 1-3 percent inflation-control target band. Unemployment rate — Canada, Ontario, Quebec
Seasonally-adjusted monthly unemployment rate, both sexes, 15 years and older, from the Labour Force Survey. The Ontario-Quebec gap is the cleanest single read on Canadian manufacturing-corridor exposure since the spring 2025 tariff round. Source: StatCan Table 14-10-0287.
Real GDP at basic prices, all industries
Monthly real GDP, chained 2017 dollars, seasonally adjusted at annual rates. The monthly print runs about two months behind the calendar; the latest reference month is Feb 26. The zero line is the recession-vs-expansion divider on a year-over-year basis. Source: StatCan Table 36-10-0434.
